Last week, I saw this on the sidewalk. Obviously handknit, obviously well worn and loved, obviously lost.
I imagined the wearer, frantically searching for it, I imagined the knitter, a bit saddened but willing to put needle to yarn again for another pair for the wearer, and I tried to think if there was anything I could do to help, but there wasn't.
So I looked like a crazy person crouching over a piece of sidewalk taking pictures for a little while, then I walked away, hoping that if I left it there the owner would come back and find it.
I'll never know if that happened, I suppose, but I can hope it did.
Awww... poor little lost mitten. And it has been too cold to be short a mitten.
Here's to hoping it made its way home.

Happy ending! Last year, while babysitting my granddaughter, I realized mid-walk that she no longer had her hand-knitted (cutest in the world octopus topped) hat... I thought it was a goner, but we retraced our steps, and someone had kindly picked it up and put it on a fence post. I almost missed it, but, what a relief to find it! I bet someone goes back... Of course, I felt very negligent in not noticing sooner that the hat had been deposited out side of the stroller. :(

I lost one of my rib and cable mitts a couple of years ago and I miss it still...
I hope this mitten finds it's owner.

Oh dear! We had a sad moment like that the other day. We stopped at the food court at the local mall to treat Neatnik to a kids meal out on a day off from school. There in one of the ride on toys was an abandoned fuzzy blanket.
When I took it over to the customer service people, they too looked at it with pity in their eyes. We hope the family thought to check the lost and found!
