So do remember that I decided two weeks before we left for Belgium to knit a vest to take with me because it was cold there? Redhook by Jared Flood.
Well, I finished it, on the plane, and wove in the ends on the train from Brussels to Antwerp, and wore it the one day it was 58 and rainy and it was perfect. Too bad it went up in the mid-70s from there...
I brought it into work today to get some pictures taken, and look, it matches my new skirt! And if you didn't know it was 92 outside and that it's a wool vest, this might not be a completely insane outfit.
I made it 2.5" shorter than listed because I've been reading these fit to flatter posts. They are really great.
And she tells me that on a bottom-heavy shape a garment should never, ever, ever end at the widest point of your hips. This seems like absurdly logical advice when you really think about it, so that's why I made it shorter. I made the medium and I think I definitely would have been fine with one size smaller, but this will work as a casual fall layering piece and I'm happy with it.
In STR Heavyweight in Lover's Leap. It is absurdly cheery and bright, hopefully just the thing for chilly October days.
Can you even imagine that there will ever again be such a thing as chilly October days? It seems like a stretch, but I know they will be here eventually and I will pack this away for cozy comfort.
More knitting still to come!
It looks just great! I've been captivated by the whole Fit to Flatter series. So much useful information.
Summer is definitely not my favorite time of year in Chicago -- very muggy. I'm dreaming of chilly October days, mugs of apple cider, and cozy sweaters!

Just the sort of thing to keep in the office during the summer. For when the air conditioner kicks into overdrive!

How great is THAT (vest), and the buttons are perfect. I couldn't make the "fit to flatter" link work. I'll try other ways to find it. Sounds like what I need!
