Flight of the Bumblebee Part I
This is part one because this is only one half of the stole, after I work on a few other things I will come back to this and finish the second half.
This is my test knit of the Bee Fields Rectangle by Anne.
I am ever so proud of myself. If you've been reading for a while, you'll remember the complete disaster my first attempt at lace was earlier this year. I started a pattern 3 times over a period of weeks and ended up practically in tears. Oh if I could go back and show my frustrated self this beautiful thing! I have officially defeated my lace demon!!! Now I can go back and try the pattern that defeated me originally again and kick its lacey butt.
I knit this half in less than two weeks. Granted, it was the only thing I worked on and I worked on it almost constantly, but still, I think that's pretty good!
My edges ended up a bit pointy b/c I don't have blocking wires, but I think I will invest in some before I block the whole thing out.
The yarn is lace weight merino in the colorway Notorious from Fearless Fibers and it is lovely to work with, I think the subtle variegation works well with the pattern.
I think the pattern will be released sometime in the next week, so you don't have to wait long!

oh RACHAEL!! oh my. i ahve tears in my eyes (blocking always does that too me) WOW! i designed that?? it is just beautiful and you totally did the pattern justice!! woo-hoo!!

I like the shot where it looks like a lacy curtain.

So brilliant. I like bumble bees in my roses.
I bought TIG wires at a local building and welding supply store for under a dollar. They work great for blocking wires.

What a lovely job you've done! I like to use thin crochet cotton or very thin nylon twine or fishing line for blocking long edges. Thread it through the edges, tie a loop at each end and really stretch it out, then pin the twine occasionally just as you would with the wires.
